Article: PASPALEY X THE ART GALLERY OF NEW SOUTH WALES

PASPALEY X THE ART GALLERY OF NEW SOUTH WALES

In celebration of June, the Month of the Pearl, Paspaley proudly partnered with the Art Gallery of New South Wales, co-hosting two events including an evening of Pearls and the Baroque era.

The first Fearless event celebrated Women in the Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes 2022, where the Art Gallery’s senior curator of exhibitions Jackie Dunn led a discussion with eight-time Archibald finalist, Tsering Hannaford and The Roberts Family prize winner, Wynne finalist and Archibald sitter, Sally Scales. Together they discussed women’s representation in the prizes, the relationship between artist and sitter, and the influences that shape their own practices.

Paspaley family member Mia Bracher welcomed guests to The Luxury Syndicate’s Pearls and the Baroque era evening. Guests were taken on a guided tour of the recently refurbished Grand Courts by the Art Gallery’s senior curator of historical European art, Peter Raissis - exploring Baroque artworks of and subsequent eras featuring pearls in the Art Gallery’ collection.

The Paspaley family have a proud connection with the arts, and have invited Archibald finalist, Tsering Hannaford to join the Paspaley Artist in Residence program in the Kimberley this August.
